We are happy to announce the mini-conference “Management of Creator and Fan Economy: Practice and Research from Japan” will be held at the end of April, during a very nice season in Kyoto!

Kyoto is a thousand-year-old capital with a rich history of creative excellence, including Nishijin textiles and Kiyomizu ceramics. Furthermore, Kyoto's major corporations have redeployed these accumulated resources built up over many years, and are global leaders particularly in the electronics field.

In Japan, the term "推し活" (Oshi-katsu, or fan-driven support activities) became a buzzword a few years ago, reflecting the growing prominence of the fan economy. Kyoto, in particular, is not only home to a rich cultural heritage shaped over centuries but also hosts major companies in gaming and animation, such as Nintendo and Kyoto Animation.

This hybrid conference, held in Kyoto where such creative culture is deeply rooted, will provide an opportunity for experienced researchers and practitioners, along with up-and-coming researchers and entrepreneurs, to gather and discuss the evolving creator economy and fan economy.

Presentations will cover economic and management perspectives on what new opportunities and phenomena are being brought to the creator/fan economy by new developments such as digital platforms and blockchain technology.

All speakers are looking forward to engaging in interactive discussions with both on-site attendees and online participants.

All sessions will be recorded, so if you are unable to attend on the day of the event, we will share the recordings with you at a later date. Please indicate your preference when registering.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to network with speakers and other participants at the venue.

As capacity is limited, please register early from here!

(This conference is supported by a grant from Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS). KUAS's chairperson is Shigenobu Nagamori, the founder of Nidec, a global motor company with the highest sales in Kyoto. KUAS has established the Kyoto Firm Research Center, which has been hosting research meetings primarily focused on Kyoto's unique managers, companies, and industrial ecosystem.)
